गुप्त वंश , जिसने हिंदुस्तान को बनाया था सोने की चिड़िया
गुप्त वंश (Gupta Dynasty) का शासन भारतीय इतिहास का स्वर्ण काल कहा जाता है |

गुप्त वंश (Gupta Dynasty) का प्रारम्भ 240 ईस्वी में पहले शासक श्रीगुप्त से हुआ था |

इस वंश का अंतिम शासक बुद्धगुप्त ने 495 ईस्वी तक राज किया | उसके उत्तराधिकारी 7वी सदी तक राज करते रहे परन्तु पूर्णतया सिमित और शक्तिहीन रहे |

इस वंश में चन्द्रगुप्त प्रथम ,समुद्रगुप्त , चन्द्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य एवं स्कंदगुप्त जैसे प्रतापी सम्राट हुए |

इस वंश का समुद्र गुप्त एक महान वीर हुआ है जिसने अपनी तलवार से सारे गुप्त साम्राज्य का विस्तार किया | जिसका परिचय हमे प्रयाग प्रशस्ति के शिलालेख में मिलता है |

चद्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य एक महान सम्राट हुआ जिसके काल में भारत में विद्या , शिक्षा ,संस्कृति ,विज्ञान ,कला एवं निर्माण कला में अभुतुपुर्व प्रगति की | धनधान्य से भरपूर यह देश सोने की चिड़िया कहा जाने लगा | उसके समय में आये चीनी यात्री फाह्यान ने भारत की प्रसशा करते हुए इसकी राजधानी पाटलीपुत्र को दुनिया का श्रेष्ठतम नगर बताया |पांचवी सदी में मध्य एशिया से आये हुण आक्रमणकारियों का गुप्त सम्राट स्कन्दगुप्त ने डटकर सामना किया |उन्हें अनेक बार हराया लेकिन बाद में निर्बल उत्तराधिकारियों के समय में हुन नेता तोरमाण ने अधिकाँश गुप्त साम्राज्य पर कब्जा कर लिया | दुसरे हुन शासक मिहिर कुल के पश्चात तो हुण भी कमजोर तो हो गये तो देश में पुन: अराजकता फ़ैल गयी | तब देश में पुन: केन्द्रीय सत्ता का निर्माण मौखरी वंश ने किया | आइये गुप्त वंश के राजाओ के बारे में आपको विस्तार से बताते है |

श्रीगुप्त और घटोत्कच | Srigupta and Ghatotkacha
जैसा कि हमने आपको बताया कि गुप्त साम्राज्य (Gupta Empire) की नींव श्रीगुप्त ने 240 ईस्वी में रखी थी | श्रीगुप्त ने 40 वर्ष तक शासन किया और उसके बाद उसका पुत्र घटोत्कच 280 ईस्वी में गुप्त साम्राज्य के तख्त पर बैठा | प्राचीन लेखो में श्रीगुप्त और उसके पुत्र घटोत्कच को महाराजा की उपाधि दी गयी थी लेकिन चन्द्रगुप्त प्रथम को राजाधिराज की उपाधि से नवाजा गया है जिसका अर्थ था राजाओ का भी राजा | चौथी सदी की शुरुवात ने गुप्त वंश ने मगध के एक छोटे से हिन्दू राज्य और वर्तमान बिहार से अपने शासन की शुरुवात की थी |

चन्द्रगुप्त प्रथम | Chandragupta I
गुप्त राजा घटोत्कच ने अपने पुत्र चन्द्रगुप्त प्रथम को 320 ईस्वी में अपना उत्तराधिकारी घोषित किया | चन्द्रगुप्त ने एक संधि के कारण मगध की मुख्य शक्ति लिछावी राजकुमारी कुमारदेवी से विवाह किया | दहेज में मगध साम्राज्य पाकर और नेपाल के लिछावीयो के साथ मिलकर चन्द्रगुप्त ने अपना साम्राज्य विस्तार करना शुरू कर दिया | इस तरह उसने मगध ,प्रयाग और साकेत के काफी हिस्सों को अपने कब्जे में ले लिया था | अब उसने अपना शासन 321 इसवी में गंगा नदी से लेकर प्रयाग तक बढ़ा दिया था | उसे महराजधिराज की उपाधि दी गयी थी और उसने अनेक विवाह संधियों से अपना साम्राज्य विस्तार किया था |

समुद्रगुप्त | Samudragupta
335 ईस्वी में अपने पिता चन्द्रगुप्त प्रथम के राज को समुद्रगुप्त ने आगे विस्तार किया और अपने मौत तक लगभग 45 वर्षो तक शासन किया | उसने शुरुवात में ही अहिचात्र और पद्मावती साम्राज्य को अपने शासन में ले लिया | इसके बाद उसने सभी आदिवासी इलाको मालवा , यौधेय ,अर्जुनायन ,मदुरा और अभिरा पर आक्रमण कर दिया | 380 में अपनी मौत से पहले समुद्रगुप्त ने 20 से भी ज्यादा गणराज्यो को अपने शासन में ले लिया | अब उसक शासन हिमालय से लेकर नर्मदा नदी तक फ़ैल गया था | विदेशी इतिहासकार उसे “भारतीय नेपोलियन ” मानते थे |
समुदगुप्त ने अश्वमेध यज्ञ किया था जिसमे वो पडौसी राज्यों में एक घोड़े के साथ सेना को युद्ध के लिए ललकारते थे | अगर पडौसी राज्य उसके साथ मिलने को अगर राजी नही होते तो उनको युद्ध करना पड़ता था | समुद्रगुप्त ना केवल एक अच्छा योद्धा बल्कि कला और साहित्य प्रेमी भी था | उसने वर्तमान कश्मीर और अफगानिस्तान के इलाको पर भी विजय प्राप्त की थी | समुद्रगुप्त खुद के महान कवि और संगीतकार था | वो हिन्दू धर्म का साधक था और भगवान विष्णु की साधना करता था |

रामगुप्त | Ramagupta
रामगुप्त के बारे में इतिहास में मतभेद है लेकिन ज्यादातर इतिहासकारों को मानना है कि रामगुप्त ,समुद्रगुप्त का ज्येष्ठ पुत्र था | ज्येष्ठ पुत्र होने के कारण ही उसे गुप्त साम्राज्य का पदभार सौपा गया था | शासन में योग्य न होने के कारण उसे सिंहासन से उतार दिया गया और उसके बाद चन्द्रगुप्त द्वितीय ने सत्ता सम्भाल ली थी |

चन्द्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य | Chandragupta II “Vikramaditya”
गुप्त लेखो के आधार पर अपने पुत्रो में से समुद्रगुप्त ने राजकुमार चन्द्रगुप्त द्वितीय को अपना उत्तराधिकारी बनाया था | चन्द्रगुप्त द्वितीय इतिहास में चन्द्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुआ जिनकी माता का अनाम दत्तादेवी था | चन्द्र्गुत विक्रमादित्य ने 375 ईस्वी में सत्ता सम्भाली थी | उसने कद्म्ब् राजकुमारी कुंतला से विवाह किया था और उसका पुत्र कुमारगुप्त प्रथम का विवाह कर्नाटक क्षेत्र की कदम्ब राजकुमारी से किया गे था |चन्द्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य ने अपने साम्राज्य का विस्तार करते हुए मालवा , गुजरात और सौराष्ट्र के के क्षत्रपो को पराजित किया था | लेकिन उसने 395 ईस्वी में अपने मुख्य दुश्मन रुद्र्सिन्हा तृतीय को पराजित किया था और बंगाल पर अपना आधिपत्य किया था |

न्द्रगुप्त द्वितीय का साम्राज्य युद्धों से ज्यादा हिन्दू संस्कृति ,कला और विज्ञान के विकास के लिए जाना जाता है | गुप्त काल की कला के शानदार नमूने आपको देवगढ़ के दशावतार मन्दिर में देखने को मिलते है | अपने काल में चन्द्रगुप्त ने बुद्ध और जैन धर्म का भी सम्मान और सहयोग किया था जिसके कारण बुद्ध कला का काफी विकास हुआ था | चन्द्रगुप्त विक्रमादित्य के शासनकाल के बारे में विस्तृत जानकरी चीनी यात्री फाह्यान ने अपने लेखो में लिखी थी | चन्द्रगुप्त के दरबार में नवरत्न दरबारी थे जो सब अपनी अपनी कलाओं में निपुण थे | इन कलाकारों में कालीदास का नाम सबसे ज्यादा आता है जिसने अपनी काम से पुरे भारत में अपनी प्रसिधी की थी |

कुमारगुप्त प्रथम | Kumaragupta I
चन्द्रगुप्त द्वितीय के बाद उसके पुत्र कुमारगुप्त प्रथम को उत्तराधिकारी बनाया गया | कुमारगुप्त प्रथम की माता का नाम महादेवी ध्रुवस्वामिनी था | कुमारगुप्त को म्हेन्द्रादित्य की उपाधि से सम्मानित किया गे था | उसने 455 ईस्वी तक राज किया था | उसके शासन के अतं होने तक नर्मदा घाटी में पुष्यमित्र अपना साम्राज्य प्रसार कर रहा था | उसने वर्तमान बिहार के नालंदा में एक बुद्ध विश्वविद्यालय का निर्माण करवाया था |

स्कंदगुप्त | Skandagupta
कुमारगुप्त प्रथम का पुत्र स्कंदगुप्त प्रथम को महान गुप्त साम्राज्य का अंतिम शासक माना जाता है | उसको विक्रमादित्य उअर कर्मादित्य की उपाधि से नवाजा गया था | उसने पुष्यमित्र को तो पराजित कर दिया था लेकिन उसे बाद में श्वेत हुण से सामना करना पड़ा था | उसने हुन आक्रमण को रोक तो दिया था लेकिन इसमें उसका काफी धन और सेना बर्बाद हो गयी थी | 467 ईस्वी में स्कंदगुप्त की मौत हो गयी और उसके गोत्र भाई पुरुगुप्त ने सत्ता सम्भाली |

गुप्त साम्राज्य का अंत | Decline of the empire
स्कंदगुप्त (skandgupta) की मौत के बाद साफ़ तौर पर गुप्त साम्राज्य (Gupta Dynasty) का अंत हो चूका था | इसके बाद कुछ वर्षो तक पुरुगुप्त ,बुधगुप्त ,नरसिंहगुप्त ,कुमारगुप्त तृतीय , विष्णुगुप्त ने शासन किया था | 480 ईस्वी में श्वेत हूणों ने गुप्त साम्राज्य की कमर तोड़ दी थी और 550 ईस्वी में पुरी तरह से उत्तरपश्चिम के इलाको पर कब्जा कर लिया |
